Description
New construction and redevelopment have reshaped the city of Waukesha in the last fifty years. Local developers, engineers, and architects have led many of the projects, in both commercial and residential building. Significant among them are the two generations of the family behind Berg Management, Bill and Jodi Huelsman and Alan and Catherine Huelsman.
In the last 30 years, Berg has led rehabilitation efforts for several historic sites and blocks in the city including: the Rotunda, the Schlitz Hotel building, the Putney Building on the Five Points, the National Bank building, and this building the Historic Courthouse Complex. Many of these projects combined public and private investment helping to ensure both preservation and continued use of the spaces.
Berg has also been a leader in apartment residential construction that also reshaped the city. Likewise, in the northwest and southwest corners of the city, new house construction has added single-family units to the residential landscape. This development helped create a customer base for local restaurants and galleries that populate Sunset Avenue, Silvernail Road, Moreland Road, and the Downtown corridor.
